🐔 Greek Chicken Gyro

Marinated chicken, warm pita, crisp veggies, and house-made tzatziki. This version keeps it simple and satisfying—grilled chicken with bold seasoning, wrapped up with all the fixings.

Ingredients (Makes 4 wraps)

For the Chicken Marinade:

  • 1½ lbs boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

For Assembly:

  • 4 Greek-style pita breads
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomato
  • ½ cup sliced red onion
  • ½ cup crumbled feta
  • Tzatziki sauce (see below)

Tzatziki Sauce:

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • ½ cucumber, grated and drained
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp chopped dill
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. Grill or pan-sear chicken until golden and cooked through. Rest and slice.
  3. Make tzatziki: Mix all ingredients and chill.
  4. Warm pita and layer with lettuce, tomato, onion, chicken, feta, and tzatziki.
  5. Wrap and serve with fries or a side salad.

Notes

  • Swap lettuce for shredded cabbage for crunch.
  • Add fries inside the wrap for a true diner-style twist.
  • Use house-made pickled onions or hot sauce for extra punch.
